We use for preference High Carbon Spring Steel.
All our blades are fully hardened and tempered.
They are supplied sharp unless you request an unsharpened edge.
They are usually satin finished but can also be distressed to give centuries of patination.
Sword blades are normally hardened to 54-56 Rockwell C and knives from 56-60 RC, depending upon the style of blade, materials and intended use.
Mostly our customers will specify the blade length & overall length, leaving the rest to us. You can also customise the heft, how heavy the sword feels, and how it is balances.
This can be achieved through several means. The thickness of the blade and the amount of distal taper can be adjusted and altering the type of grind can make a great difference.
