Raven PK1 Bushcraft Knife

The image above shows a production prototype for our Raven PK1 Bushcraft Knife.
We have been working with Paul Kirtley, expert in Bushcraft and Wilderness survival, on the design and field testing.

This is the first production Bushcraft knife we have made, the development of the design and its evolution can be seen here.

Thirteen numbered prototypes are being made available prior to general release, twelve in O1 and the thirteenth in Stainless Damascus.
Reservations are also being taken for the production knives, which will be serial numbered starting 001, these will be available from February 2012.

These knives are being made in both 01 tool steel and RWL 34 stainless steel as a standard, hardened to 58 - 59 RC for O1 and 61 - 62 RC for the RWL34.
There are numerous ways to customise your knife, including altering the steel used for the blade and the materials for the handle and fittings.
Details of some of the modifications available are listed at the bottom of this page.

Materials

The materials and specifications for most of the first 12 pre-production prototypes, as well as the standard version of this knife are as follows:

Blade: 3/16" 01
Hardness: 58-59RC
Handle: Black Micarta
Bolster: Brass
Pins: 8mm Brass (Blind Loveless) on 4mm steel studs (grip) and 3mm Brass (bolster)
Finish: Steel Shot Blast
Lanyard: Brass 5.5 mm ID. 6.5 mm OD

The materials and specifications of the 13th pre-production prototype are:

Blade: 4mm Bjorkmann Twist, Stainless Damascus
Hardness: 60-61RC
Handle: Ebony
Bolster: Stainless steel
Pins: 8mm Stainless (Blind Loveless) on 4mm steel studs (grip) and 3mm stainless steel (bolster)
Finish: Etched
Lanyard: Stainless steel 5.5 mm ID. 6.5 mm OD

Modifications and adjustments

As with all of our swords and knives, the PK1 is hand made and a wide variety of modifications are available.
Some changes will have no effect on the cost or delivery time while others may effect either or both.

A rough guide to some of the possible changes is below.
Many other possibilities are available, so feel free to contact us for more information on prices and delivery times.

Modifications available at no extra cost:

Blade: RWL34 Stainless
Handle: Ebony
Bolster: Stainless
Bolts: Stainless
Lanyard: Stainless
Grip Size: Reduction, usually no extra cost but increased delivery time.
Blade size: Reduction, usually no extra cost but increased delivery time.

Modifications which will incur an extra cost:

Blade: Other steels including D2 and Stainless Damascus, filework and engraving
Handle: Mammoth Ivory & woods such as Cocobolo, Desert Iron Wood etc
Bolster: Damascus or Silver
Bolts: Damascus or Silver
Lanyard: Damascus or Silver
Grip Size: Increase, possibly slight extra cost and increased delivery time.
Blade size: Increase, usually slight extra cost and increased delivery time.
Tang: Tapered tang, filework.

ORDERING

To place an order we usually require a 25% deposit with the balance paid upon completion of the Knife.
Alternatively you can pay in monthly instalments spread over anything from three to twelve months.
