Announcement Regarding Curved Swords
On the 27th February 2008 a Draft Order was laid before Parliament proposing to add any sword with a "curved" blade longer than 50cm in blade length to the list of Offensive Weapons.
The amendment order has been given parliamentary approval and from the 6th April 2008 we will no longer be able to offer "curved" swords for sale to customers in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
We are currently in discussion with the Home Office about many aspects of this draft amendment order and hope that defences can be put in place to allow Collectors the right to continue to purchase high quality "curved" swords.
The only contemporary "curved" swords not currently included in the ban are those that have been traditionally forged in Japan.
